Institute in the Congo for the Consrvation of Nature ( ICCN) and Wildlife Conservation Global (WCG)/Okapi Conservation Project (OCP) Announce a Contact of Collaboration

September 2025 to September 2030
During the week of June 15 to June 21, WGG President, John Lukas and Director of Conservatuion for OCP, Berce Nsafuansa meet with the Director General of ICCN Milan Ngangay Yves and his staff at the ICCN Head Office in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to discuss a new five year Contract of Collaboration as the present contact expies in September. Prior to the meeting a Committee of five ICCN lawyers and and administrative staff reviewed and made comments of a draft agreement OCP sent to ICCN in May of 2025. Each change or addition to the previuous contact was discussed and terms were adopted by mutual consent. Both sides worked in harmony to produce a Contract that benefits both parties.
WCG/OCP is entering its 39th year of partening with ICCN to benefit okapi and the people living inside and around the borders of the Okapi Willife Reserve. Our longstanding commitment to the wildlife and people of DRC is respected by ICCN and forms the basis of our trusted relationship which under the new Contract provides for OCP to do more for okapi conservation and provide the communities with more opportunities to support our efforts to protect the National icon of DRC for future generations of this amamzing bilogically and culturally diverse Country.
