2025 Annual Report: Rooted in Strength, Growing Toward Conservation
In 2025, the Okapi Conservation Project deepened its commitment to the Ituri Forest by investing in one of its most powerful and underutilized forces: women. From MARFO groups weaving education into income-generating gardens, to the hundreds of women-led households building food security while easing pressure on forest resources, this year's work revealed something we've long believed to be true: when women are equipped with skills, confidence, and opportunity, entire communities grow stronger alongside them.
This Annual Report celebrates those stories, and the quiet, enduring truth behind them: the future of the okapi cannot be separated from the future of its people.
