Media Inquiries
Founded in 1987, the Okapi Conservation Project is a long-standing collaboration between conservationists, local communities, and the Congolese wildlife authority (ICCN). The okapi serves not only as a symbol of national pride but also as a powerful ambassador for rainforest conservation. Through education, community engagement, and wildlife protection efforts, the project inspires global awareness and local stewardship for the species and its fragile ecosystem.
Media Inquiries & Coverage
Our team is committed to supporting journalists and content creators who wish to share meaningful stories about okapi conservation and the communities of the Ituri Forest.
A few things to keep in mind:
We are happy to assist with interviews, background information, and access to project sites, pending approval from our in-country leadership team and partner institutions.
The safety of wildlife, staff, and guests is our top priority. Access to animal care areas, field sites, or sensitive habitats may be limited or subject to supervision.
All media requests must be coordinated through our communications office to ensure alignment with project guidelines and conservation goals.
If you are a journalist or member of the media with a story to tell, we would love to hear from you. Please contact us at info@okapiconservation.org with your credentials and story angle.
