About Us
In 1992, OCP, in partnership with WWF and WCS, played a key role in the establishment of the Okapi Wildlife Reserve (OWR) by the Government of Zaire—which was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996. Over the years, OCP has worked tirelessly to protect both the okapi and its critically important ecosystem, combining on-the-ground conservation efforts with community engagement to ensure the survival of this unique species and the biodiversity of the Ituri Forest along with the communities who also depend on forest resources to survive.
