Ebola Update - September 2026

The Ebola outbreak in the DRC continues, and we want to keep you informed. This outbreak has now become the largest and fastest-spreading on record, and the situation remains serious. Most of the cases and deaths are centered in and around Bunia, the capital of Ituri Province. OCP has shifted our focus to maintaining security and the safety of the teams. We have acquired and distributed a second round of PPE and sanitation equipment to our teams, partners, and surrounding communities, and our efforts to prevent transmission and raise awareness continue.

Presently there are no cases of Ebola inside the Reserve, in the town of Mambasa on the eastern border of the Reserve nor in Wamba on the western border where OCP has an education and agroforestry office. Niania on the Western access road has several active cases of Ebola.

We are grateful for your support and will keep you updated as the situation continues to evolve.
